Description
One of the most well known Soviet vehicles is the ZiL-157 truck with its cross-country capabilities. The ZiL-157 was developed by the design bureau attached to the Likhachov automobile factory in Moscow in 1958. The ZiL-157 truck was an excellent base model for various army vehicles – fuel trucks, command and staff mobile posts, radio and radar stations, transport, launchers for anti-aircraft missiles, medical cars, and multiple launch rocket systems. ZiL-157 trucks were in service with Soviet and Warsaw Pact armies, armed forces in Africa, Asia and the Near East and were widely used in various local conflicts from the 1950s to 1970s.
